As a proud advisory board member at Great Bay Community College I am pleased to see the continued change and improvements at the college. The Portsmouth Herald just put out a great article featuring President Arvelo and company in their mission to build a better school with less resources and funding. Considering enrollment is up over 43% from 3 years ago, I’d say the efforts have been effective. Here is the full article.

I’m not a typical proponent of re-posting other articles as part of your blog but I must admit, we’ve been incredibly busy, clients are hiring, and blogging has fallen to the back burner temporarily. In light of this time challenge, I have chosen to post the link to an article/slideshow from CIO Insight which shows the details of a national survey of CIO’s. It looks like our nation’s senior IT leadership is optimistic and expects to both hire professionals and buy technology in the latter half of 2010. Read on…

While the advertisement of college classes may not be the most exciting of subjects for blogging, I’ve gotten great feedback from local students who have taken evening classes at Nashua Community College. This fall, NCC is offering a Java and a Perl development class in the evenings and pricing is pretty reasonable.

You can find out more and look up classes at http://www.nashuacc.edu/ or call their night/weekend division at (603) 882-6923.

Happy studying.

Investment Fundraising Increases Are Typically Good Signs…

Owning a company that primarily services the NH and northern MA markets puts me in a slightly isolated economy at times. Couple that with the fact that we are in the employment business and are typically looked to for a real-time pulse of the market (where national employment statistics indicate no major turn-around as of yet) and we often find ourselves looking for ways to reinforce optimism other than simply saying “well….uh……we’ve been incredibly busy”. Getting to the title of this post, investment fund raising is typically a pretty strong sign of economic optimism. Mass High Tech recently published an inspiring (well, I found it to be inspiring) article illustrating that investment fundraising has been up through Q1/Q2 of this year. When investment firms are able to go out and find “new money”, that is typically a sign that, in the simplest of terms, people/institutions with money are optimistic and growth is on the rise.

The following link will take you to the full article. Happy reading!
